I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
Romans 1:16
The purpose of this website is to share the Gospel – the Good News about what God has done but the story about Jesus is only Good News to those who know they are sinners.
I believe the malady of man is sin. It is sin that keeps us from the riches of knowing Christ and having a relationship with our Heavenly Father. He is altogether Holy and we are completely vile from the very core of our being. We do good works but they are all self serving. We do not have a natural desire to please God. We do not have a natural desire to know God. In fact we are dead – completely dead in our trespasses and sins.
If there is even a glimmer of godly desire in our hearts it is not of ourselves but God in His mercy creating a hunger in our hearts for Him.
If we desire to know who God is and what He is like then we have to look at His Son Jesus. Jesus said, “If anyone has seen me they have seen the Father.” He repeated this statement many times through out the gospels.
Throughout His life on Earth Jesus was a true manifestation of the character of God. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out devils by these acts He showed us the Father’s Love and Compassion for the poor in spirit and the oppressed. The anger of God poured through Jesus as he confronted the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees for their misrepresentations of God. When he braided a whip and as a lone individual drove out the money changers out of the temples, over turning their tables the zeal for His Father’s House burned in His heart. Those who defiled His Father’s temple fled from His anger in an effort to escape His divine presence as eyes burned with a holy terrifying fire.
We look at Jesus’ life and his teachings and we see the Father but on the Cross we see the complete fullness of God the Father on display. Here His nature is presented in it’s fullness. Here the Love, Compassion and Mercy of the Father are demonstrated along side of His Justice and Wrath towards sinful man. The cross is the pinnacle; it is the culmination of all of Gods efforts to show himself to fallen sinful man. Here Mercy and Justice kiss each other. Here the Father and the Son reveal the plan of salvation that was only alluded to throughout the Old Testament.
In the Cross we see the mercy of the Father in sending His only begotten son. We see the Son obedient, willing to suffer and die a criminal’s death. But the most stunning and ultimate fact was, on the Cross He bore in His own body the death sentence that was passed on all of humanity when Adam sinned. Here we see God pouring out his just wrath on his own Son instead of pouring it out on us. Here we see Jesus laying down His life before his Father as a propitiatory sacrifice.
The proof that His sacrificial death satisfied the Justice of the Father was that after Jesus lay in the tomb for three days He was resurrected. He rose from the tomb victorious! Death had no claim on Him and He defeated death, Hell and the grave. Now He reigns for all of Eternity and He has been given a name which is above all names and at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is the Lord. We either do it willing now or on the day of Judgment before we are banished to an eternal Hell.
In the Cross God exhausted His resources in obtaining our salvation, there is no other plan and no other way.
